Busy Mom Turns Covid 19 Shutdown in to Online Business with Global Following
7 APRIL 2021 (Charlottetown, PE) – Local fitness instructor, Kathleen Grace MacPhee was ready to get back to work after having her fourth child when the world shut down due to Covid19. Left wondering where to turn, MacPhee decided to offer free live fitness classes on Facebook to try to help lift spirits and get people moving. On April 17, she is preparing to launch her largest project to date, Strong, Calm and Connected 21-Day Fitness Challenge.
“I was so excited to go back to work in March and I remember that very weekend, everything came to a jarring stop. I felt a whole range of emotions those first few weeks of COVID-19; uncertain, anxious, and afraid,” recalls MacPhee.
With her fitness classes postponed indefinitely, she turned her attention to homeschooling her three young children and caring for her new baby. The initial classes were also pay what you can – ensuring everyone could have access during uncertain times. The response took her by surprise;
“Everyone was so appreciative and I was able to connect with more people than I ever had in my previous practice,” shares MacPhee.
The experience inspired her to take her business online and she spent her summer filming over 40 on-demand video workouts. By September, MacPhee had a library of content, but still needed a website.
“My husband and I spent many late nights building the website almost entirely on our own. It was all brand new to both of us, but we were determined to keep costs low before we knew if anyone would join,” says MacPhee.
Within a week of launching Kathleen Grace Fitness, MacPhee had signed up more than 100 new clients to her online fitness membership and has been overwhelmed by the number of people eagerly tuning in from across the globe.
“I love connecting with people who I wouldn’t have been able to before and helping them realize how even a few minutes of exercise can make a big difference in the way we feel. This idea has inspired me to launch; Strong, Calm and Connected 21-Day Fitness Challenge.,” says MacPhee. “It seems more important than ever to stay positive and active right now.”
Strong, Calm and Connected 21-Day Fitness Challenge is designed to help busy women feel great, have fun and increase physical and mental wellbeing. The challenge is on sale now and runs from April 17, 2021 to May 8, 2021.
